Our Ministries
The Presbyterian Women (PW) of Winnsboro is organized and functions to be an inclusive, caring community of women whose purpose is to nurture faith through prayer and Bible study, supporting the mission of the Church through various community and worldwide projects.
Participation in the activities of PW is open to all women who want to join in or be supportive of PW in any way.
Monday Afternoon Bible Study
All women in the community are sincerely encouraged to join this non-denominal group of ladies.
More than 30 women from approximately 10 different churches and the Morgan’s Mercy Mansion program (current members and graduates) meet Monday afternoons (2:00 – 4:00 p.m.) in the Reid Fellowship Building of First Presbyterian Church for Bible study. (The group does not meet on the national holidays.)
The non-denominational Bible Study focuses on curriculum written by noted Christian authors (Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer, and Jennifer Rothschild, etc.) which fosters group discussion and sharing. Between the studies the group has a variety of Bible Study opportunities on varied topics provided by the women in the group. Periodically, special musical programs are scheduled throughout the year to supplement the instruction led by Mrs. Linda Suche.
Youth Ministry
Our youth group, for grades K - 6, is dedicated to growing and exploring our Christian faith
We fellowship together and discuss how God's grace affects our everyday lives at home and at school. We meet every Sunday and look at how God has worked through us and around us that week. We play games and sing songs enjoying God's grace. We strive to follow in Christ's foot steps by showing His love through our Noisy Offering project. Money collected the last Sunday of each month is sent to help build the Salama Iglesia Maranantha in Guatemala . Come grow and celebrate God's love with us!
Camp Gilmont's ministry remains rooted in reformed faith, where the love and grace of a nurturing God is made evident in the beauty of creation and in relationship with his son Jesus Christ. The Reid Foundation and the Presbyterian Women of First Presbyterian financially support the work done at Camp Gilmont.
Beaven and Jane Els along with Sean Drennan work as VOLUNTEERS at Gilmont! Others are invited to participate in a variety of projects tailored to age and level of skill. Call 903-797-6400 if you would like to help.
